History
Nativity Academy of Houston is a non-tuition based independent private Christian pre-kindergarten 3 through 8th grade school serving exclusively low-income students and families of all faiths and cultures through a challenging, progressive curriculum, personalized attention, extended days, and a longer school year. We believe that providing these students with a quality education infused with the Gospel will best prepare these students for high school, college and for life as they break the cycle of poverty.
Nativity Academy is committed to provide a transformative program to educate the whole child -- intellectually, spiritually, physically and emotionally. Additionally, the school recognizes the parent as the primary educator and creates a partnership that engages the families in their child’s education. The school includes the families of our students by integrating volunteer hours, parent education classes, and a signed commitment contract supporting their child’s education.
Nativity Academy of Houston opened August 15th of 2016 with 20 students in PreK3. An additional grade will be added each year until the 8th grade level is reached. Full enrollment will be attained in 2026 and the first Nativity Academy Students will graduate in June 2027

School name
The school’s former name San Francisco Nativity Academy was chosen in recognition of Saint Francis of Assisi who embraced poverty in order to live in solidarity with the poor. The Nativity portion of the name is to identify it as a school formed in the NativityMiguel model.

The logo for San Francisco Nativity was created by Laura Behar and Daniela Simpson. The cross resembles a Tau Cross while the “F” in the cross creates a form resembling the Franciscan garb. The large cross signifies the importance of Christ in all aspects of the school and reinforces that the school is explicitly faith-based.

NATIVITY'S CAMPUS
Nativity Academy has found a home at 5808 Renwick Dr, at the corner of Glenmont and Renwick in the Gulfton area. This three story school building is able to accommodate the school's full enrollment from PreK3 through 8th grade. The campus provides a safe and nurturing environment for our students to grow and thrive for many years to come.
